The Panasonic SD-2501WXC is the company’s flagship model and is probably the best home bread maker on the market at the moment. We highly recommend this product and think it offers fantastic value for money considering all the features that are included. In this Panasonic SD-2501WXC bread maker review we’ll tell you a bit more about the product and what it’s capable of, along with what other reviewers have said about the bread machine.

Panasonic SD-2501WXC Features

The Panasonic SD-2501WXC bread maker is in a similar price range to the Kenwood BM450. We think it offer a bit more in terms of bread quality and features than the BM450, however, so while both are good options we recommend getting the SD-2501WXC.

In terms of features, the Panasonic SD-2501WXC pretty much has it all. Aside from the standard set of programmes (which includes pizza dough, jam etc), the bread maker also comes with a gluten free mode. If you or any of your family have a gluten intolerance then this is a fantastic feature. Other programmes include French bread, rye bread and original brioche.

Ease of use is an important factor when choosing a breadmaker, and luckily the Panasonic SD-2501WXC doesn’t disappoint in this respect. With the number of features and settings available it could be easy to get confused when you first start. Luckily the Panasonic SD-2501WXC bread machine has an easy-to-use control panel that lets you bake bread as simple or as complex as you wish.

There are a range of other features included in the Panasonic SD-2501WXC. These include a delay timer (so you can set the bread to bake overnight or to be ready for dinner) and a super rapid cycle if you don’t mind sacrificing some bread quality for speed.

The most important aspect of any bread maker is the quality of the bread it produces. Along with being able to set the size of the bread (ranging from medium to extra large), you can also set the type of crust you want and add variety to the mix by using the raisin/nut dispenser. The fruit and nut dispenser is specially designed to distribute the ingredients more evenly in the mix than competing machines.

As the breadmaker is often highly visible in the kitchen, it’s always important to check its appearance before you buy. Fortunately, the SD-2501WXC has a modern styled design and comes with cool touch housing to stop it heating up on the outside.

Here’s an overview of the Panasonic SD-2501WXC bread maker’s main features:

  • 11 different modes ranging from standard wholemeal bread to jam and compote modes.
  • Raisin/nut dispenser for even ingredients dispensing.
  • Capable of baking three different sized loaves.
  • Gluten free mode (although this can’t be used on a delay timer).
  • Three different crust settings.
  • Fast bake and delay timer. Delay timer is capable of up to 13 hours delay, making it perfect for baking overnight.
  • Bake healthier bread than ever before by having full control over sugar and salt quantities.

Panasonic SD-2501WXC Rating And Conclusion

As you may have guessed from reading this review, the Panasonic SD-2501WXC is one of our favourite bread makers. It is the one we recommend most highly for those wanting high quality, easy to bake bread. The combination of features such as fruit and nut dispenser, delay timer and gluten free program mean that there are very few alternatives in this price range. There are other options if you’re looking for a cheaper model (the Kenwood 260 is a good example), but for this price range you really can’t beat the SD-2501WXC.

This is a fantastic bread maker! I’ve had it for several weeks now and couldn’t be more pleased. The bread is SO tasty and I’ve barely scratched the surface with all the programs!

As a potential buyer, i’m surprised your review doesn’t mention the very high cost of Panasonic spares. This seems a common concern from otherwise pleased owners – £60+ for a new non-stick breadpan, whereas a Kenwood BM450 is under £20. These appear to need replacing quite frequently for heavy users – shouldn’t you mention this? I was assuming i would buy the panasonic but i must admit this issue is putting me off.

I have a Panasonic 255 and use it every other day and have had it for many years now and the only part I have had to replace was the mounting shaft unit as it was leaking water, the pan is still ok after thousands of loaves!

My second panasonic has just let me down for the same reason as the last: the catch on the raisin dispenser broke, meaning the dispenser is unusable. I was unable to find a replacement last time, no idea if I will manage this time! The current model looks very different, so perhaps this is no longer a problem, but it is a shame that my old machine is 98% usable but there is nothing I can do to sort this function.
